Inspiration: Atacama Desert

The Atacama Desert is not only one of the driest places in the world, but one of the most topographically diverse. Set between the Pacific Ocean and the foothills of the Andes, the Atacama’s environment transitions from vast swaths of desert, to rocky and unstable formations. Volcanic cones are also present in the region, with some exceeding over 16,000 ft. in elevation. This makes the terrain amongst the most harsh and challenging for those who find themselves in it.
